I love puppies! I have 3 of my own currently and I can think of nothing better than lying in the grass and letting seven puppies swarm me。 I only wished this book had been longer。 At this point I think I've read every CRH book that has an audiobook version。 More, more, more。。。 I love puppies! I really loved the first half of this heartwarming story but then once I hit the half way mark it all seemed too obvious。 I thought Abby was lovely and Elliot almost too good to be true。 I’m not a fan of romance books so that’s perhaps why it fell a bit flat。 The parts with the puppies in were so accurately written it made me long for another pup!

A true "feel good" story!Catherine Ryan Hyde delivers again! A great storyline with strong characters。 The narrative is believable and makes you feel as if you can "see" the drama playing out in your head。 This is a book for everyone! Perfectly wonderful 7 perfect things it’s a wonderful book about grieving, and growing as a person at every age。 These three characters: Abby, Mary, and Elliott, all grow in ways that are wonderful to watch as they fight through the individual problems in their lives

Definitely a feel good story Probably not very realistic but a fun read。 Interesting characters and interesting story。 I hope women like the mother see themselves and try to get out and go on with their lives。

At first thought, after finishing this book, it would seem like a lovely story about a teen-aged girl and the seven puppies she rescues from the river, but it's oh-so-much more than that。 This story will clutch at your heart for so many reasons including loss, domestic abuse and the finding of redemption。 I think I've used the word "redemption" for many of this author's books because she deals with redemption in so many ways。 Having read two of Catherine Ryan Hyde's books in a row, and in the sp At first thought, after finishing this book, it would seem like a lovely story about a teen-aged girl and the seven puppies she rescues from the river, but it's oh-so-much more than that。 This story will clutch at your heart for so many reasons including loss, domestic abuse and the finding of redemption。 I think I've used the word "redemption" for many of this author's books because she deals with redemption in so many ways。 Having read two of Catherine Ryan Hyde's books in a row, and in the space of just a few days, I've come to understand that there is no such thing as Hyde overload, and that's fortunate。 This story follows Mary and thirteen year old Abby, mother and daughter, as they navigate the destructive path their husband and father, respectively, has drawn for them。 He is psychologically abusive to both women。 Abby sees someone throw a bundle in the river, and she jumps in to retrieve it, finding seven perfect puppies inside。 She can't bring them home because she would never be allowed to keep them。 She finds an empty hunting cabin with a shed and decides to house them there。 When the owner, recently widowed Elliot discovers the puppies, the story unfolds。Each of the main characters are emotionally damaged, and don't know if they will ever be whole。 There are moments that keep you on the edge of your seat。 Puppies can so often lessen the pain。 All the superlatives apply to this book。 。。。more

Wonderful Story!Catherine Ryan Hyde is my favorite author of books about the humanity (and inhumanity) of homo sapiens。 And their relationships with animals。Heart-wrenching and heartwarming, her beautifully written tales never fail to leave me feeling better about most people。

Read it too fastOnce again I read Catherine Ryan Hyde’s new book too fast and am now disappointed that it is over。 Her characters are so real that you get invested in them and want the story to go on。 This book is no exception。 There is enough tension to keep the story interesting, and lots of great detail about the characters and their stories。 But not too much。 You never feel like she would hurry and get to the point。 I found myself re-reading sentences and paragraphs just because of the way s Read it too fastOnce again I read Catherine Ryan Hyde’s new book too fast and am now disappointed that it is over。 Her characters are so real that you get invested in them and want the story to go on。 This book is no exception。 There is enough tension to keep the story interesting, and lots of great detail about the characters and their stories。 But not too much。 You never feel like she would hurry and get to the point。 I found myself re-reading sentences and paragraphs just because of the way she words things。 Fantastic book! 。。。more

Normally, I love this author’s work, but this book was so simplistically written and predictable that I was not engaged。 The characters were cliche, the action uninspired, and the end unsatisfactory。 It was written as if by an early middle schooler。 I was not impressed and very disappointed。 What could have been a good topic was insipid and blasé。 Very sad。

Catherine Ryan Hyde has a way of writing people who come together and make each other better。 This book begins with 13 year old Abby rescuing 7 puppies who have been thrown into a river to drown。 Abby's home situation is such that she knows she cannot take the puppies home so she finds a place to keep them and takes on the project of taking care of them。 In the mean time, Elliot has just lost his wife and is dealing with his grief。 He arrives at his hunting cabin to find 7 puppies! The plots are always similar in overall arc - old person and a young person saving each other。 This is no different but it always works and she always drives the story forward and had me worried over whether Mary and Abby would escape。 Amazing writer。
